The Cyph is an editorial publication, not a data business. We collect the minimum needed to run the site: an email address if you subscribe, aggregate traffic statistics, and one value stored on your own device confirming you're of legal age. That's the whole list.

↳ The newsletter

If you subscribe to the dispatch, we collect the email address you give us and nothing else. It's stored and processed by Squarespace, the platform this site runs on, and used for exactly one purpose: sending you the newsletter.

We don't sell, rent, share, or trade our list with anyone. Every email includes an unsubscribe link; using it removes you immediately.

↳ Analytics

We use Squarespace's built-in analytics to understand readership in aggregate — page views, referral sources, approximate geography, and device type. We don't run advertising trackers, third-party pixels, or any analytics service beyond what's built into the platform, and we can't identify individual readers from what we see.

↳ Age verification

Because we cover the licensed cannabis industry, the site asks whether you're 21 or older. Your answer is stored as a single value (cyph_age_ok) in your browser's local storage — on your device, not our servers. It's never transmitted to us and expires after 30 days. Clearing your browser data removes it and the site will ask again.

↳ What we don't do

No accounts, no payments, no advertising, no data sales, no third-party marketing cookies. Squarespace sets the cookies it needs to serve the site; its own practices are covered by the Squarespace privacy policy.

↳ Your choices

Unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email, or write to us and we'll remove your address from the list. To reset the age gate, clear this site's data in your browser. For anything else — including asking what we hold about you, which for nearly all readers is either one email address or nothing — contact dispatch@thecyph.co.

↳ Changes

If our practices change, this page changes first, along with the effective date at the top. We won't quietly expand what we collect.
